Reviews about Duracite - Santa Rosa Showroom

  • November 21, 2019, by James J. O'Hara
I would have given this company 5 stars if not for a few "red flags" along the way that made me hesitate to give them an unqualified pass. For the most part, each step in the process, including the overall result, gets 5 stars, from the initial estimate (Alex) to the design phase (Darcie), to the cabinet installation and general carpentry (Paul and Matt). I was less impressed with the countertop installation process (not the quality of workmanship) and the delays it caused because it required two callbacks to get the granite line below the over-the-counter microwave cut to the correct height. In the process, the two installers managed to lose a mounting bolt and drop the second one inside the unit's outer case, which Paul and Matt had to retrieve in order to install the appliance. Let me do a special callout for Paul and his assistant, Matt, for their patience, flexibility, top-notch workmanship, and responsibility, which went above and beyond what was expected of them and in some cases represented a voluntary effort on their part to repair or remedy an earlier overnight on the part of the other installers (a different crew with each visit, whereas Paul and Matt were always there for us). Paul and Matt also stayed late on at least two occasions and even worked a full day on a Saturday in order to keep the project on schedule. Darcie also deserves commendation for her patience and good humor during the process, and she cheerfully provided several additional options to us for no charge, which Paul and Matt installed for free as well (extra shelves in two overhead cabinets, one additional pullout for pantry). I also appreciate the fact that the company was willing to let me do the demolition, electrical, and some of the plumbing myself, since I have a carpentry background and wanted to save a little money by doing the work that I had the time and expertise to do myself, and we were able to coordinate our schedules without a hitch. I don't agree with the 1- and 2-star reviews below, and I'm glad that I didn't see them before contracting Duracite because I might have then missed out on working with a solid company with a strong work ethic and honest business principles. At no time did I ever need to argue with them or feel nervous about being over-charged or "cheated" in any way. I recommend this company to any homeowner who is realistic enough to know that a kitchen remodel takes time and patience on all sides, and that it never helps to blame the contractor for the inevitable backorders, delays, and human error that take place in any project.
